I started following Aptera back in 2005 when they were trying to bring a very different hybrid vehicle to the market.
While that attempt fell short of the goal, Aptera came roaring back in 2019 with a brand new all-electric design that has set the standard for what transportation should be.
I’ve always loved the vision of this company: starting with optimizing the efficiency of design and letting that process dictate the form the vehicle takes. To me, that organic process resulted in a beautiful vehicle that I knew I wanted from the moment I saw the first renderings.
While admittedly not everyone’s cup of tea, the super sleek, futuristic lines speak to me in a magnetic way.
Integrated solar, the way Aptera has done it, means that the average commuter who travels about 35 miles a day will never have to plug this vehicle in.
While other electric vehicle manufacturers scoffed at the idea of solar providing anything other than supplemental support, Aptera forged ahead with a plan to harness the power from the sun in a way that could move the vehicle.
And they’ve done a magnificent job of it!
